Mural painting FAQs
How does the process work?
Ooh, let me walk you through it!
- First, We connect
I want to hear all of your ideas. I’ll ask you to send me example photos that inspire you, and to think about the effect you want the mural to have. I want to really get everything you’re going for. - We decide on a design approach
The “dive in” approach lets me jump straight to painting. The “full design” approach takes us through digital mockups and revisions, giving you more control every step of the way.
- I design!
For the “dive in” approach, I’m getting everything quickly ready to rock behind the scenes. For the “full design” approach, I send you digital mockups of the art in your space, and we go through up to two rounds of revisions to really dial it in.
- I paint!
This is where your walls come to life! How will you celebrate your whole new space?
I've never done this before. How can I trust that you'll be able to paint what I'm imagining in my mind?
Great question. I love this part.
In our initial connection conversation, I’m going to ask you a ton of questions. I’ll ask what effect you want the mural to have. I’ll ask about the colors and textures you’re imagining. We’ll pick apart your inspiration photos, digging into what you love about each and why.
As we go, I’ll be making recommendations based on what I’m hearing. Explaining artistic concepts and techniques, to help you see how they apply to what you’ve told me. I care deeply that we get to the heart of your vision, and then get it on your walls in a way that fills you with delight.
I’ve been told more than once that my initial consultation felt like a therapy session, and I take that as a very high compliment.
I'm not in LA. Do you serve my area?
While I’m primarily a Los Angeles muralist, I love to work in other communities! If I’m legally allowed to do so (international work permits can be tricky), and we’re a great fit, we’ll make it happen.
Pricing will change a bit to account for travel to different areas, but let’s make magic together!
How long have you been doing this?
I’m a third generation hobby artist, and my childhood is filled with memories of sketching lessons at grandpa’s house, and doing paint-by-numbers with mom in the backyard. For me, art has been synonymous with nurturing care for over 40 years.
I moved into painting murals professionally in 2017. In the years since, I’ve worked with homeowners, small businesses, and community art projects around Southern California and in multiple states.
How much does this cost?
Pricing is quoted individually per project, as it varies based on:
- size
- location
- complexity of access
- complexity of design
- design approach
I’ve done everything from $950 mini murals, to multistory outdoor showstoppers at over $50k.
Most indoor projects average $3-5k.
I'm in LA on a tight budget. What's your most affordable option?
Ooh, I’m glad you asked.
Mini 2-day murals are a great way to get spontaneous and affordable art. These can be up to 7ft x 7ft, move straight from initial consult to painting, and are $950 within 30 miles of my studio in Santa Monica.
WIth the quick time frame, no high-complexity elements like portraiture are available on the mini murals.
I just want to see more pictures. Where can I find you full gallery?
Sure, you can find a whole bunch of pictures here!
